if you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change.

  1.

Even though I’m done with the GRE, I haven’t had much free time to post on tumblr since the past two weeks were filled with work/travel/events. As an update, I’ve been in SF for work which has been pretty awesome. I’ve been traveling to Northern California on and off for the past two years, but this was my first time with a project in the city. My company’s San Francisco office is in the Embarcadero Center with an amazing view of the bay! It was refreshing to take in that view in between meetings and convoluted data.

My first day in the city, I got off the plane, checked my e-mail, and was elated to see that I was selected for a health industry research rotation at work. The four-month rotation will be spent learning about and writing on industry trends, leading up to a white paper. Not too many people get selected for this opportunity and especially not too many people who aren’t in the health industry consulting group. I initially applied for it several months ago but wasn’t picked for the first rotation. I started doubting myself, thinking that if I couldn’t get chosen for a research rotation at my own, albeit large, company, how would I fare in the grad school application process? Having this research experience, however, should help my chances or at least help my confidence.

Admittedly, it’s scary how real everything is becoming. I’m getting closer to my dream! Grad fair, check. GRE, check. Research experience, in progress. Volunteering, in progress. Saving for tuition, in progress. I plan to get started on the application process when the new year rolls around. I started reading The Alchemist this week and I’m truly hoping I don’t psych myself out as my dream is within reach…

For these reasons, among others, I truly feel hopeful and joyful this season. I wish you hope and joy, as well!
